ALEXANDER LESSONS Do you suffer from BACK pain, a
stiff neck, tense shoulders? Would you like to improve your posture and have a
healthier back? Have you heard about the Alexander Technique but not quite sure
what it is? A course of Alexander lessons can change your life, by changing your posture.
In August 2008 the British Medical Journal published the results of a clinical
trial which proved lessons in Alexander Technique have a long term benefit
as an intervention to back pain. Back pain afflicts up to 49% of the population
costing NHS, business and the economy £5 billion a year. Alexander Technique
can also PREVENT back pain, It is helpful for RSI, stress, and other
postural disorders, all sadly rather common for those working daily with
computers.
Even
a single lesson can provide a truly profound experience leading to
increased awareness in the way you think, move, and react. Your step
will feel lighter, your spine lengthened, and all that your teacher
will have done is rightfully restore a co-ordination that was always
yours to begin with.
You
will learn how to use your body with more ease and less tension in
simple
movements – such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
The Technique can also be applied to hobbies, sports, performance and
when using the computer.
Part
of the lesson may include you lying down in the classic Alexander
Technique semi-supine position - allowing maximum support and relief
for the back.
After your initial lesson, you can discuss with your teacher how many lessons will best suit your needs.
The
cost of an Alexander lesson in London can vary and is usually based on
the location and level of experience of the teacher. (Concessionary
fees may be offered upon request)
